Demers in Wed., Mar. 27, 1957 Rice Lake Chronotype (Rice Lake, Barron Co., WI) Ray T. Demers Dies Saturdary at Age 59 Raymond Demers, a native of Rice Lake and widely-known retired postal worker, died Saturday morning in a local hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 59 years old. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning in St. Josephs Catholic church, with burial in church cemetery. Mr. Demers, the son of Wilfred and Delima Demers, was born April 20, 1897. He was aveteral of the Mexican uprising, World War I and World War II. He was a past commander of the American Legion post here, was a member of 40 et 8 and a past grand knight of the Knights of Columbus. He began work with the Rice Lake post office as a clerk on Dec. 2, 1929, and retired April 30, 1956. He was Main st. mail carrier for a time and in recent years had been clerk at the stamp window. Mr. Demers is survived by his wife, the former Ann Eidskar, whom he married July 3, 1943; eight sisters, Miss Alda Demers and Miss Odile Demers of Chicago; Mrs. Hazel Mesang of Rice Lake, Mrs. Leontine Rill of Clintonville, Wis., Mrs. Clara Ann Prior of Lockport, Ill., Mrs. Maurine France of Detroit, Mrs. Antoinette Bahr of Crandon, Wis., and Mrs. Carol Barrows of El Monte, Calif., and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
