His funeral was held Sunday at the Rice Lake M.E. church with internment in Meadow Creek cemetery where his parents and brothers are buried. He came to Rice Lake with his father in 1869 and the next spring they bought the rest of the family from Winneconne in a covered wagon, driving livestock, and made their home in a log cabin with shake roof. John F. Dietz, of Thornapple dam fame, was the only pupil in the Meadow Creek school in 1870. Henry was a supplyman for early logging companies, farmed and was in the livestock business. Like his two brothers, he was a powerful man and served as a peace officer, engaging in many combats with fighting lumberjacks. He is survived by six sons and two daughters: Henry of Amherst Junc., Clifford of Danbury, Lester of Waupaca, Roy of North Dakota, Mrs. Gil Rutzen of Milwaukee, Walter, Harold and Mrs. Florence Stafford of Rice Lake.
