Forrest Former Campia Figure, Dies at 89 John B. "Pa John" Forrest, an almost legendary figure of years gone by in the Campia and Birchwood areas, died Monday at the age of 89. He had been ill for several weeks. Funeral services for Mr. Forrest were scheduled for Thursday morning at 10:30 from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic church at Dobie. Rev. John Kauer will officiate, and burial will be made in the church cemetery. Mr. Forrest, the son of Camille Forrest and Mary Ann Orman, was born at Ontonagon, Mich., Aug. 8, 1870, and came with his parents to the Dobie area at the age of four. He had operated a tavern and rural gathering place at Campia from early in this century until his retirement about 1935. Later he had also worked as a bartender at Ted Hagg's Sarona House. He was married at Dobie in 1894 to the former Mary Roux, who preceded him in death in 1904. In August of 1905 he was married to Josephine Labby, who also preceded him in death in 1950. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Marie McLeod of Birchwood and Mrs. Irene Okonek of Spooner; a sister, Mrs. Rose Mullen of Rice Lake and a brother, George, of Los Angeles, in addition to five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
