This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Denise Ervasti 23 October 2001 ==================================================================== From the Barron County News Shield dated Thurs., Jan 14, 1937 JOSEPH GRESCHNER Joseph Greschner of Almena died Jan. 1 at the age of 73 after a few weeks' illness. He was born Nov. 9, 1863, in Austria-Hungary and was married there in 1889 to Miss Anna Paulik. They removed to America in 1901, lived in Canada a short while, then in St. Paul, and in 1908 located on a farm in the town of Arland. They moved into Almena last October. Mr. Greschner is survived by his widow and five children: Mrs. Bartzen of Sask., Can., Joseph W. and Louis of Almena, Stephen of Pittsburgh, and John of Withee: also 15 grandchildren, a nephew Frank Grschner, and a sister Mrs. Kreber of Arland. Funeral services were held at Sacred Heart Catholic church, the Rev. R. J. Fassbender officiating at requiem high mass with interment in the church cemetery. Flower girls were his grandchildren, Frances and Florene Greschner, assisted by Mrs. August Wuorenma. Pallbearers were Joe Chermack, Mike Klein, Louis Klein, John Gores and William Wuorenma.
