Submitted by: Doris Baldwin 10 March 2005 ************************************************************************ Mabel Jacobson Funeral services were held Tuesday morning for Mabel Baldwin Jacobson, 90, of 225 W. Allen St., Rice Lake, who died Friday morning at Lakeview Medical Center in the city. Rev. Donald Howard conducted the rites at the United Presbyterian church here, and burial was in Cedar Lake Cemetery near Mikana. Mrs. Jacobson, the former Mabel VanDalen, was born March 30, 1892 in Knox, Ind. She had lived in the Rice Lake area since 1922. Her first husband, Clarence Baldwin, logged in the area until his death in 1944. The couple also owned and operated Baldwin's Cabins, now the Starlite Motel, and filling station in Rice Lake for a number of years. Later she married Rex Jacobson in 1965, and the couple became well- known as silversmiths. They were members of the gem and mineral society. He died in 1979. She was also a member of Rebekah Lodge 75. She is survived by one son, Jess Baldwin of Rice Lake; five grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren.
