WI) Rites Held Tuesday For Francis 'Fat' King of Rice Lake Francis "Fat" King, 82, of Rice Lake, died Friday at Lakeview Medical Center. Funeral services were held Tuesday from St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rice Lake, where military rites were accorded him by the Rice Lake American Legion Post. He was born March 20, 1908 at Dobie and worked as a foreman for the U.S. Engineers in Norfolk, Va., for a number of years. On Aug. 9, 1941, he married Florence Wilson in Portsmouth, Va. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the LST USS 55 in the invasion of France, returning to Rice Lake after being honorably discharged. Upon his return, he and his brother owned and operated King Bros. Construction Co. for many years. He also worked at the Rice Lake Creamery for 25 years. Mr. King is survived by his wife, Florence of Rice Lake; two sons, David of Minong and Dean of Rice Lake; a daughter, Floreen Penzkover of Rice Lake; six grandchildren; a brother, Medric of Rice Lake; and two sisters, Cecilia Schnacky and Loreen Beach of Rice Lake.
