Submitted by: Kent Robarge 03 August 2007 ************************************************************************ Obituary of Joseph King in Wed., March 16, 1949 Rice Lake Chronotype (Rice Lake, Barron Co., WI) Funeral services were held last Wednesday morning at St. Joseph church for Joseph King, 79, pioneer Dobie resident, who died March 10 at his home at Canton, Rt. 1 after a long illness. Death was due to a stroke. Msgr. Peter F. Meyer conducted the rites and burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery. Pallbearers were Elmer Severson, Gerald Robarge, Jim Rogers, Delore King, Laurence King and William Crotteau. J.P. Schneider was funeral director. Mr. King was born in Canada April 12, 1870 and moved to Dobie while still a youth. He was married to Exilda Crotteau April 27, 1897 at Dobie, and settled on a farm in the Dobie area. Mr. King spent most of his life in the Dobie and Rice Lake area, but was living east of Canton at the time of his death. He is survived by three sons, Paul, Jim and Delore King, all of Canton; six daughters, Mrs. Lee Mackrill (Fiddia) of Canton, Mrs. Arthur Robarge (Delima) of Rice Lake, Mrs. Edgar Rogers (Josephine) of Rice Lake, Mrs. Fred Severson (Delphine) of Cumberland, Mrs. Bradley Robarge (Irene) and Olivia King, both of Canton, and 13 grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Pete Crotteau, Canton, Mrs. Melvina Soucie of Detroit, and Mrs. Delphine Smith of Rice Lake, and William King of Minnesota. One daughter, two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
