Mazel, 74, of Rice Lake, died Nov. 30 at his home. Funeral services were Dec. 3 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Haugen, with Rev. Allan Bradley officiating and burial in St. Joseph Cemetery in Rice Lake. Mr. Mazel was born March 4, 1920 in Haugen, where he was raised and attended elementary school. He graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1938 and then worked with his father in construction. On Nov. 18, 1944, he married Valoris DeMars in Rice Lake and later was one of the co-founders of KAM Construction Company in Rice Lake, which he operated for several years before joining the George W. Olson Construction Compnay in Stillwater, Minn., where he worked until his retirement in 1985. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish, a member of Minnesota Statewide District Council of Carpenters Local 87 and a 50-year member of Moose Lodge 402 in Rice Lake. He is survived by his wife, Valoris; two sons, Larry and Edward Jr; two daughters, Marlena Kay Putnam and Michella Grady; and seven grandchildren, all of Rice Lake; and one sister, Amelia Zaloudek of Sarona."
