Mercier in Wed, Apr. 16, 1975 Rice Lake Chronotype (Rice Lake, Barron County, WI) C. A. Mercier Dies After Long Illness Charles A. Mercier, sr., a lifelong resident of Rice Lake who had been active as a lumbermill operator, a painter and carpenter until retirement in 1961 died last Wednesday evening at his home after a long illness. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Rice Lake with Rev. James Dabruzzi officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Mercier was born in Rice Lake Aug. 17, 1888. He was married to the former Delphine Chartier in 1908, and the couple had 15 children, 12 of whom survive him. Survivors include his wife; five sons, DeWayne of Racine, Wallace of Kenosha, Morris of LaCrosse, Vernon of Kenosha and Charles, jr. of Severna Park, Md; and seven daughters, Irene Krippner of Eau Claire, Jeanette Kistrand of Kenosha, Lucille Krippner of Duluth, Doris Eriksen of Minneapolis, Mary Jane Cipra of Racine, Marion VanHelden of Libby, Mont. and Donna Meyers of Rice Lake. There are also a sister, Anna Lemler of Haugen and a brother, Archie of Milwaukee; 49 grandchildren, 50 geat-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters and one son.
