He was born in Hesse, Germany, Aug. 24, 1872, and was brought as in infant by his parents to a farm near Prairie Farm of which he took charge after the death of his father and conducted until he retired two years ago. He served on his town board two years and was treasurer of his school district nine years. He was married May 19, 1897, to Mary Kurschner and eight children were born to their union. Two years ago he and Mrs. Miller purchased the former Ole Jorstad residence in Ridgeland and made their home there with their son Herbert and family. He is survived by his devoted wife, three sons, Edward, Clarence and Herbert of Ridgeland, and five daughters, Mmes. Ray Salsbury, Dallas; Harold Bilse, Menomonis; Wm. Dennis, Jr., Connorsville; Irvin and Edwin Bilse of Ridgeland, and many other relatives and friends. An energetic, cheerful and kindly appearing man, he will be missed greatly by numerous friends as well as his family.
