Submitted by: Barbara Horn 03 June 2004 ************************************************************************ Barron County News Shield, Barron, WI - Thursday 9 Jan 1936 page 5 col 5 - obituary Mrs Hans Nelson Mrs Hans Nelson died at her home in Maple Grove, Jan 2, 1936, at the age of 76 years, nine months, and three days. She had been in failing health for some timeand her death was not unexpected. Carrie Knutson was the daughter of Knut and Ragnhild Knutson and was born in Valdres, Norway, March 30, 1859. She spent her childhood days there and came to America in 1872. She was married to Hans Nelson, July 10, 1886, and he preceded her in death Jan 4, 1932. Nine children were born to their union, all of whom are living: Mrs Henry Kisling, Cameron; Melvin, Sioux Creek; Alfred, Hillsdale; Ole, Maple Grove; Mrs Emil Larson, and Mrs Carl Larson, Sioux Creek; Sever, at home; Mrs Edwin Peterson, Cameron; and Mrs Olger Louis, Milwaukee. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren. Funeral services were held Jan 4 at the home and Nye Scandinavia church in Maple Grove, the Rev A O Running officiating, with interment in the church cemetery. Flower girls were Mesdames Knut Haugestuen, Norbert Bakken and Herbert Beiswanger.
