Submitted by: Barbara Horn 03 June 2004 ************************************************************************ Barron Co News Shield, Barron, WI - Thursday 1 Apr 1943 page 5 cols 3 & 4) Ole Nelson Ole Nelson, a long time resident and farmer of Maple Grove township, passed away Monday, March 22, 1943. He was born in Valdris, Norway, April 24, 1869, and immigrated to America at the age of 15. In 1892 he married Mathea Carlson and to them were born nine children of whom seven are living. They are Mary, Mrs Oscar Wahl of Barron, Rena, Mrs Wenzel Vaverka of Winter, Norman of Dallas, Carl of Maple Grove, Emma, Mrs Thomas Johnson of Dallas, Minnie, Mrs Dewey O'Flanagan of Sawyer, Agnes, Mrs Arthur Schaaf of Chetek. A son, Elmer, died in July 1907, and a daughter, Olga, in April 1913. Surviving him are his wife, seven children, four brothers, Anton, Martin, Elling and John, a sister, Mrs Peter Eckley, 25 grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 25, at the Halverson Bros Funeral home and Maple Grove Lutheran church, the Rev Hj S Froiland officiating. Interment was made in the Maple Grove cemetery.
