Submitted by: Kent Robarge 03 August 2007 ************************************************************************ Obituary of Leonie (Demers)[Derousseau] Norton in Wed., March 7, 1956 Rice Lake Chronotype (Rice Lake, Barron Co., WI) Mrs. Leonie Norton, Ex-Resident, Dies A former Rice Lake area resident, Mrs. Leonie Norton, 79, of Minneapolis, died there Friday after a lingering illness and her body was brought for burial. The funeral took place Monday morning at Our Lady of Lourdes church in Dobie, with Father John Kauer officiating. Burial took place in the new church cemetery. Mrs. Norton was born in Canada Oct. 12, 1876, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Derousseau and came to the Dobie vicinity with her parents at an early age. Surviving her are three sons, Donald of Milwaukee, Adolph of Chicago and Julian of Hammond, Ind.; four daughters, Mrs. Frank (Martha) Roth of Hibbing, Minn., Mrs. Charles (Margaret) Sharpe of Portland, Ore., Mrs. John (Helen) Quigley of Elmhurst, Ill., and Mrs. Henry (Agnes) Melshe of Minneapolis, 26 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers, Patrick, Eric, William and O'Neill, all in Canada, and two sisters, Mrs. Elisabeth Wood of Sherwood, Ore., and Mrs. Stephanie Wilcossen of Missoula, Mont. Four children and her husband preceded her in death. Note: Obituary incorrectly identifies her maiden name as Derousseau. Her parents were Joseph Demers and Philomene Bosse. Her first husband was Joseph Derousseau (died 1923).
