E. Christianson officiated, assisted by the choir of the Norwegian Lutheran Church. Mr. Paulson was born in Aslen, Halledolens, Prestogjeld, Norway, on August 26, 1847. He was educated and continued in the Lutheran faith and came to america with his parents when twenty-one years of age. The family lived in Lansing Town, for a year and then went to Meeker Co. MN. In the late 70's Mr. Paulson came to what is now the town of Cumberland. Where he settled on a farm. On July 22, 1882 he married Caroline Anderson Sonju who died in March of 1920. He is survived by eight daughters, Matilda now Mrs. Carl Olson Of Minneapolis, MN. Anna now Mrs. Howard Frissel of Thief River Falls, MN. Inga now Mrs. Ole Legvold of Thief River Falls, MN. Nellie now Mrs. John Wiess of Minneapolis, MN. Emma, now Mrs. Joseph Johnson of Cumberland. Minna now Mrs. Emmett Quinn of Rice Lake. Clara Paulson of Washington D.C. and Ida who kept up the home after the death of her mother. All of whom were with their father during his last illness and in attendance at the funeral. There are also eight grandchildren. Those from out of town were, for the funeral were Carl Olson, Dorothy and Russell Olson. John Weiss and Emmett Swanander and John Almoas of Minneapolis. Mrs. Grace Taylor of St. Paul. John Paulson of Eau Claire. Mrs. Peter Olson of Clayton. Howard Frissell of Thief River Falls, and Emmett Quinn of Rice Lake. Mr. Paulson was a man of powerful physique who earned a wide reputation for strength among his comrades in the lumber camps in which he spent much of his time in his younger days, and he had an extensive acquaintance all over Northwest WI. He engaged in the hotel business in Cumberland in an early day, but kept the farm on which he settled as a pioneer. He was a good citizen and an obliging neighbor. His children all had a great love for him and for the home to which they all made regular pilgrimages.
