Submitted by: Kent Robarge 03 August 2007 ************************************************************************ Obituary of Carl Raawe in Wed, Apr 29, 1936 Rice Lake Chronotype (Rice Lake, Barron Co, WI) Carl August Raawe Funeral services were held Friday at the home and the First Evangelical Lutheran church, conducted by the Rev. H.W. Parisius, for Carl August Raawe, 71, who died April 21 at his home 5 miles east of Rice Lake in the town of Stanley after an illness of about four months. He had been a resident of Barron county for the past 47 years. Mr. Raawe was born in Blankenhagen, Germany, in 1864. He married Miss Bertha Wolf in that country, in 1888, and during the same year the couple came to this country, settling in Barron county in the town of Stanley. With the exception of seven months spent in Rice Lake the family had spent their entire life in the town of Stanley. Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Raawe: Mrs. Kadlec (Meta) of Hayward, Mrs. Lawrence Robarge (Minnie), Mrs. Albert Stilley (Ella), Martha, Alvin, Agnes and Arnold. All of the children are living except Martha, who died in 1929. Mr. Raawe also had 18 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
