Submitted by: Kent Robarge 03 August 2007 ************************************************************************ Obituary of Adele Rose (Demers) Robarge in Wed, Feb 23, 1944 Rice Lake Chronotype (Rice Lake, Barron County, WI) Early Resident of County Dead Mrs. Alex Robarge Had 125 Direct Descendents Mrs. Alex Robarge, 84, R. 4, city, who has 125 direct descendants, died at 11:10 a.m. Monday at St. Francis, Wis., after an illness of two weeks of general debility. Funeral services will be conducted at Our Lady of Lourdes church Thursday morning with the Rev. Joseph Mayou officiating and burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Elzear Demers, Felix Demers, Lawrence Robarge, Louis Robarge, Arthur Demers, and Adelard Demers, all nephews of Mrs. Robarge. J.P. Schneider & Son have charge of arrangements. Mrs. Robarge was a pioneer resident of Barron county and had lived here 71 years. She was born Oct. 6, 1859 in the province of Quebec, Canada, the daughter of Henry and Olive Demers. She came to Barron county at the age of 11 with her parents. She was married to Alex J. Robarge Nov. 23, 1880 at Our Lady of Lourdes church at Dobie, formerly in Stanfold. Mrs. Robarge was a member of the Christian Mother Society, Alter Society, Messenger of Sacred Heart and Holy Ghost Mission House Confraternities, and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes church. Eleven of Mrs. Robarge's 13 children survive, Olive Donnelly, 60, Milwaukee; Alexandrian, 58, Wilton Junction; Adelard, 56, Bonnyville, Alberta, Canada; Frank, 54, Cudahy; Rose Schieffer, 53, Milwaukee; John, 51, Rice Lake; Eva Demers, 49, Rice Lake; Emilda Haughian, 46, St. Walburg, Sask., Canada;Melina Sundland, 44, Duluth; Napoleon, 41, address unknown; and Josephine Martindale, 39, St. Francis. All of the children except Adelard, Emilda and Napoleon were here for the services. Mrs. Robarge is also survived by 71 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren. Three brothers also survive, Peter Demers, 91, Rice Lake; Octave Demers, 84, Rice Lake; and Thomas Demers, 87, No. Hollywood, Cal.
