Robarge/Roberge and Minnie Smith-2nd wife) Rice Lake Chronotype Feb. 5, 1986 obituary (Rice Lake, Barron County, WI) HL:"Ray Roberge, Past City Council Member, Dies" "Raymond Roberge, a longtime alderman for the First Ward in Rice Lake, died Tuesday at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Rice Lake at the age of 78. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rice Lake, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call until 9 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Jarocki Funeral Home in Rice Lake, and later married Helen Ring on Aug. 23, 1926. He served as a sargeant of the Home Guard during World War II. Following the war, he worked as a custodian for St. Joseph's Church and school for 25 years. He was first elected as alderman for the First Ward in 1957, and maintained that post for 18 years in addition, he served on the Barron County Board for 20 years and was head of civil defense for the county for 20 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 50 years and was a past Grand Knight for the organization. In 1969, he received the Presidents Award from the Rice Lake Chamber of Commerce. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Donald of Medford and James of Rice Lake; five grandchildren; and four great-grand- children."
