Roux in Wed, Dec. 10, 1997 Rice Lake Chronotype (Rice Lake, Barron County, WI) Louis J. Roux Louis J. Roux, 92, of Rice Lake died Dec. 8 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home here. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rice Lake, with Rev. Kevin Gordon officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with military rites accorded by the Rice Lake American Legion. Visitation is Thursday from 3-8 p.m. at the Jarocki Funeral Home in Rice Lake, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., and on Friday for an hour prior to the church service. Mr. Roux was born on April 9, 1905 in Rice Lake to Jeffrey and Celestine Roux. After finishing his education, he left this area to work in Milwaukee. There he met and married Rose Lear on May 3, 1929. The couple then moved to Chicago, Ill., where Mr. Roux attended electrical school. They returned to Milwaukee, and he entered the Marines, serving until 1932. The family then moved to Rice Lake, where Mr. Roux was an auto mechanic at the Shell station. He later sold that business and began auto repair work and managing the parts department at the Rice Lake Auto Co. He then worked for Bibbey Auto Body from 1940-1970. Mr. Roux had been a member of the Rice Lake Rod and Gun Club since 1940; organized and taught hunter safety courses; served in the state Guard Co. L/National Guard D; and was a Rice Lake Rifle and Pistol Club and Moose Lodge member. He was an avid deer hunter, a creator of copper wire sculptures, and active in the Mens Catholic Order of Foresters. Mr. Roux is survived by five sons, Donald and Wayne of Rice Lake, Gary of Sarona, Allan of Eagan, Minn., and Kenneth of Mora, Minn.; one daughter, Janet Flodquist of Phoenix, Ariz.; 29 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rita O'Brien of Rice Lake. He was preceded in death by his wife, two sons, and a granddaughter.
