Submitted by: Kent Robarge 28 September 2003 ************************************************************************ Obituary of Matilda (Trottier) Roux in Wednesday, September 16, 1925 Rice Lake Chronotype (Rice Lake, Barron County, WI) Mrs. Philip Roux Mrs. Philip Roux passed away Sunday morning, Sept. 13, after a long illness with dropsy, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Turcotte, in this city. She suffered a stroke about four weeks ago and since then had failed rapidly. Matilda Trottier was born in St. Pierre, province of Quebec Canada, on Dec. 4, 1844, and was married there to Philip Roux on Oct. 2, 1866. They moved to this locality forty-two years ago, settling on a farm east of the city, now owned by Dr. T.A. Charron. They lived on the place about twenty-two years until the death of her husband twenty years ago. After his death Mrs. Roux moved into the city. Twelve children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Roux, eight of whom survive, as follows: Peter Roux, Mrs. Fred Amans and Mrs. Wm. Turcotte of this city; Henry Roux of Minneapolis; Homer Roux of western Canada; Mrs. Josephine Secore of this city; Joseph Roux of Marshfield, Ore., and Mrs. Amanda Dupois of Montreal, Canada. She is also survived by thirty grandchildren; also a brother in Canada. Funeral services were held at St. Joseph's church at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Rev. A.J.
