P. Schieffer Dies Tuesday At Age of 84 "John P. Schieffer, 84, a resident of Rice Lake for more than 60 years, and a well known carpenter in the area before his retirement, died Tuesday at a local hospital after a lengthy illness. Funeral services are planned Thursday at 10 a.m., from St. Joseph's Catholic church, with Rev. Robert Riedmueller officiating, and burial will be made in Our Lady of Lourdes cemetery at Dobie. Rosary services will be held at the Mason funeral chapel at 7 p.m. Wednesday for Knights of Columbus and Foresters, and at 7:30 for the parish. Mr. Shieffer was born Jan. 31, 1881, in Monroe county, Wisconsin, and came to Barron county shortly after the turn of the century, after attending school at St. John's University at Collegeville, Minn. He is survived by his wife, the former Rose Robarge, and by six sons, Bernard and Francis of Milwaukee; Marcellus of Caseville, Ill., Leo and Edmund of Waukesha, and Jerome of San Francisco, and four daughters, Sr. M. Arnolda, S.S.N.D., of Marshfield, Mrs. Christine Franco of Plant City, Fla., Mrs. Julia King of San Francisco, and Mrs. Theresa Hazelberg of Milwaukee. There are also three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Kelnhofer and Mrs. Henry Richter of Rice Lake and Sr. M. Anoldine, O.S.F., of Sparta, and one brother, Joseph Schieffer of Rice Lake; 37 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren."
