Schieffer (son of John Peter Schieffer and Rose Adele Robarge) Obituary in Sept 17, 1986 Rice Lake Chronotype "Leo Schieffer, 62, of Birchwood, a former member of the Washburn County Board, died Sunday at the Rice Lake Convalesent Center. Funeral services are planned for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Dobie with Fr. Jerry Harris officiating and burial following in the church cemetery. Full military rites will be accorded. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Appleyard's Home for Funerals in Rice Lake where there will be a scripture service at 8 p.m., a Moose memorial service at 9 p.m. and an Elks service at 9:30 p.m. Visitation will also be held at the church for one hour prior to services Thursday. Mr. Schieffer was born June 13, 1924 at Silverdale. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War, and retired from the United States Air Force as a sergeant with 20 years of service. For the past 11 years, he had been a Birchwood resident, serving as assessor for the Village of Birchwood for a number of years as well as serving as a supervisor on the Washburn County Board. He was a longtime member and past commander of the Birchwood American Legion Post, a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and the Rice Lake Elks Lodge. In addition to longtime friend Mary Overstreet of Birchwood, Schieffer is survived by five brothers, Bernard of Rice Lake, Francis of Milwaukee, Marcellus of Bellville, Ill., Jerome of Ben Lomond, Calif., and Edmund of Waukesha; and four sisters, Christine Franco of Tampa, Fla., Sister M. Arnolda and Theresa Hazelberg of Milwaukee, and Julia King of San Bruno, Calif."
