Submitted by: Barbara Horn 03 June 2004 ************************************************************************ Barron County News Shield, Barron, WI 29 Jul 1948 page 3 col 4 - obituary Peter Smedsrud Peter Smedsrud, son of Erick and Dena Smedsrud, was born June 20, 1874, in Foldalen, Norway, and died July 17 at his home in Maple Grove. He left Norway in 1893 and came to America. In 1904 he was married to Nora Severud of Maple Grove. They lived in Dallas for six years, then moved to a farm in the town of Maple Grove, where he resided until his death. Surviving are his widow and seven children, Enoch of Stockton, Calif., Selmer and Oscar at home, Mrs Raymond Ashlin of Stockton, Mrs Harold Fornell of Turlock, Calif., Mrs Alpha Hansen and Mrs John King of Stockton; a brother, Ole Erickson of Dallas and a sister, Ragnild Smedsrud of Foldalen, Norway. One daughter, Luena, died June 11, 1923. Funeral services were held July 19 at the Gospel Tabernacle, Rev Brown officiating. Interment was in the Nye Scandinavia cemetery. The pallbearers were Milton Raberge, Charlie Peterson, Oscar Severude, Peter Christenson, Selmer Smedsrud and Enoch Smedsrud.
