Brossard was born August 28, 1875, at Waterville, Minn. she was united in marriage with Jay F. Smith Feb. 1, 1896 and passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 7, as the result of heart failure while apparently recovering from an operation at a hospital at Eau Claire. There survive besides the husband, the following children, Percy Ross B., Ray, Gladys (Mes. Robert Strangeway), Lloyd, Fred and Wilson, all of this vicinity, and her aged father and brother at Gardner, Col., as well as six grandchildren. Mrs. Smith had resided on Route 1 for 29 years and her passing is mourned by a large circle of friends. The funeral services were held at the family home on Route 1 Monday afternoon at 2 p. m., the Rev. D. N. Shotwell of this city officiating. Interment took place in Cedar Lake cemetery.
