Smith, 95, a longtime resident of the town of Cedar Lake, died last Wednesday evening at a local hospital after an illness of only a few days. Funeral services were held Saturday morning from the Hyllengren funeral chapel with Rev. Lowell Hellstedt officiating, and a burial was made in the Cedar Lake cemetery. Mr. Smith was born in Minnesota March 5, 1867 and came to the Cedar Lake area to farm around the turn of the century. He is survived by his wife Irene; five sons, Ross and Ray of Nachitoches, Wash., Lloyd, Fred, and Wilson of Rice Lake, and one daughter, Mrs. Gladys Strangeway of Rice Lake. There are 33 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and five great- great-grandchildren.
