Stowe died Friday Oct. 30, 1903 of heart disease aged 71 years and 10 months. His death was very sudden and unexpected. He was apparently in good health and left the house for the purpose of looking after the stock in the barn. His wife feeling uneasy about him on account of his continued absence went to search for him and found him sitting on the barn floor dead. From indications he died without a struggle and without warning. The funeral was held at the Swedish Church at 2:30 p.m. and the body was laid to rest in the Turtle Lake cemetery. A very large concourse of people attended the funeral as the deceased was a man of many sterling qualities and very popular having been a minister in the N. B. Church for many years. He was born in Stowe, Vermont in 1831 and served in the Union Army during the Civil War being a member of the 4th Minnesota Volunteer Infantry.
