Submitted by: Barbara Horn 03 June 2004 ************************************************************************ Barron Co News Shield, Barron, WI - Thursday 24 Mar 1938 page 4 col 5 - obituary Norval Severud Norval Severud, well known business man at Chetek and throughout the county, died Monday, March 14, after a heart attack and illness of several weeks. He had reached the age of 52 years and 26 days. He was the son of the late Ole and Lena Severud, pioneers who settled in Maple Grove in 1872, and he was born Feb 18, 1886, in Maple Grove, living on the home place until 1912, having rented and then purchased part of it. He had worked at sawmills during the winters. In 1908 he was married to Hannah Wahl, daughter of the late Ole and Olena Wahl, pioneers of Dallas. They bought 10 acres at the village limits of Dallas in 1912 and he carried on truck farming and worked on roads. The next two years he had a clothing store in Dallas, then sold farm implements for four years, and from 1919 to 1921 was a partner of the late J W Johnson in the garage business at Dallas. In 1921 he removed to Chetek and was engaged in the oil business until his death. He is survived by his widow and four children; Ruth, Esther, Lloyd and Rachel, two, Chester and Neva having died in infancy; also by six sisters and five brothers: Inga, Nora, Henry and Albin of Dallas, Oscar of Ridgeland, Ella of Rice Lake, Anna and Clifford of Minneapolis, Tilda of St Paul, Emma of Fresno, Calif, and John of Sask, Canada, besides a host of relatives and friends.
