Submitted by: Kent Robarge 03 August 2007 ************************************************************************ Obituary of Jacob Wampfler in May 30, 1990 Rice Lake Chronotype (Rice Lake, Barron Co., WI) Jacob "Jake" Wampfler Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at United Presbyterian Church in Rice Lake for Jacob Wampfler, 86, of Rice Lake, who died Tuesday at the Rice Lake Convalescent Center. Rev. David Butler will officiate and burial will follow in Nora Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-9 p.m. at the Jarocki Funeral Home with an 8:30 p.m. Moose Memorial Service. Visitation will also be at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Mr. Wampfler was born Dec. 30, 1903 at Monticello, and married Alvina Siewert on Nov. 10, 1926 in Rice Lake. He then farmed east of Rice Lake for 50 years before retiring and moving into the city. During that time, Mr. Wampfler worked with the Agricultural Administration Assn. for 36 years, and served 21 years as a county committeeman. He was the last surviving member of the 25 town chairmen elected on the county committee in 1933. He was also secretary of Red Cedar River Cheese Factory for 25 years, secretary of the Rice Lake Holstein Club, and director of the Barron County Holstein Assn. for 20 years. Mr. Wampfler was cattle barn superintendent for the Barron County Fair Assn. for 25 years, treasurer of the Lincoln School, assessor for the Town of Rice Lake for 2 years, and a charter member of the Rice Lake Credit Union. He was a member of the Rice Lake Senior Citizens Club, the Farmers Union, and Moose Lodge 402 in Rice Lake. Mr. Wampfler is survived by his wife, Alvina; four sons, Albert of Rice Lake, Robert of Prairie Du Chien, Ernest of Washington, Iowa, and Gene of Chicago, Ill.; three daughters, Evelyn Siewert of Cameron, Elaine Scott of Cameron, and Rose Hanson of Rice Lake; 26 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren; and by a sister, Clara Baumberger of Rice Lake.
