published by the Western Historical Co.: 1879.

FRANCIS BANKES, farmer, Sec. 21: P. O. Burlington; born in Yorkshire,
England, in 1840, and came with his parents, in 1852, to Racine County;
located in Mount Pleasant, and lived there till 1868; he then left his
father on the farm in Mount Pleasant, and came to Burlington and bought
192 acres of land in Section 21, with residence and barns and all
improvements; he married in Mount Pleasant, in 1863, Sarah Smith, and
has one child, Thomas W.; he raises hogs, cattle and small grain on his
farm.
