published by the Western Historical Co.: 1879.

CHARLES SCOFIELD, Union Grove; born in Stamford, Fairfield Co., Conn.,
Jan. 2, 1809; came to Wisconsin in 1838; was first in Racine, several
months; he came around the lakes by steamer Jefferson, with his father,
thirteen of the family, came at that time; his father settled on three
quarter-sections of land, in Yorkville; after a time, Charles Scofield
became the owner of 330 acres, and remained looking after this interest,
till Nov., 1876, when he came to Union Grove, where he now has a fine
residence and a competency. Married, Sept. 4, 1831, Sallie H. Dibble;
have had two children- Simeon, born 1832, Mary Ann, 1834. Mr. Scofield
has been Road Commissoner and Constable many terms; member M. E. Church.
