Obituary: Willard "Spike" Saunders - Died April 1997 Willard Spike Saunders died peacefuly at home after a short battle with cancer. He was born May 25, 1912, to George and Anna (Radick) Saunders. He married Marie Derepkowski on June 21, 1940. She preceded him in death July 28, 1978. He began his driving career at Schneider as one of their first drivers. He retired from LCL Transit in 1970 after 30 years of safe driving. He continued to drive part-time for Pomps until 1995. He was a member of Teamster Local 75. In his teen years, Spike was a member of the Columbus Club an YMCA Swim and Diving Teams for which he took many first-place awards, including Green Bay City Champion. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and puttering in his garage. He is survived by his beloved significant other, Janice Schumacher; four daughters, Judy (Dick) Geyso, Wrightstown; Mary Glim, Green Bay, Jeane (Jim) Delpire, Green Bay; Jamie Saunders and fiance Mike Bendtschneider, Crivitz; one son, Jim (Wanda) Saunders, Green Bay; one sister, Dorothy Bardouche, Riverside, Califl; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; special friends, Frank and Judy Kraft, Green Bay. He was preceded in death by one son, Tom; four brothers, George, John, Merrill and Chester; two sisters, Lorraine Wagner and Florence Goethe. No services will be held. Proko-Wall Funreal Home is assisting the family.
