Batteries L. Taylor, O. Taylor, L. Durand and W. Christner. These are great days for the also-rans in the Ferron Park ball team chase. While Blooming Valley and Ferron Park sap each other's vitality with spurt and counter spurt, the Blooming Valley team slowly but steadily tried to reduce the gaps which separate them from one another. Ollie Taylor's run was the headliner performance. That was once when the overworked phrase "superhuman effort" seems to apply. Ferron Park made it straight over Blooming Valley and wins the game in the second inning by capturing the ball. Taylor pitched in his usual invincible form. After getting rid of all his poor pitching in his system in the first inning he recuperated and held Blooming Valley safe. Taylor put every ounce of his strength and determination into his pitching. The Ferron Parker's handed the rudderless Blooming Valley team their usual rubbing. Ollie Laurence and Mac Taylor were our fastest sprinters. As a result of errors in the second inning the home team starts a rally that nets 5 runs. Mac Taylor struck out nine men. Blooming Valley's slants were too deceptive for Ferron Park returned home with the bacon by a score of 15 to 6. The Blooming Valley ball team are a bunch of jolly losers and we hope that they'll come over again. Summary -- M. Taylor 2-base hit; L. Taylor, bases on balls, Durand, 2-base hit, O'Brien walked. Umpires Lee Taylor and C. Larson. --From the Spooner Advocate, Spooner, Washburn Co., WI, 15 August 1924
