Submitted by Angie Denotter 22 March 2004 ************************************************************************ Wendell Eugene Denotter, 76, of Lafollette Township, died Sunday August 3, 2003, at his home. He was born September 2, 1926, to Richard and Bernice (Wilcox) Denotter in Lafollette Township. On December 27, 1944, he entered the United States Army and served his country during WWII, and was discharged in 1946. Wendell was united in marriage to Virginia Hertel May 31, 1952 in Pine City, Mn. They resided in Lafollette Township where they raised eight children. Wendell farmed, ran a logging business with his brother, Austin, and also worked for NSP. Following retirement, he loved gardening, fishing and spending time with his family. Wendell was a member of the Siren VFW Post 1256. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Dennis and Danny; brothers, Harry, Ernest, Richard "Pug", Duane, Austin, Jerry, and a sister, Marie Richter: five half-brothers and two half sisters. He is survived by his wife Virgina; two sons, Dale and Angie of Clayton, and Wendell Jr. of Hammond; four daughters, Janice of Webster, Wendy of Eau Claire; Jolene of Webster; Gayle and Rick Atkinson of Hertel; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert and Patricia Denotter of Webster, and one sister, Nona and Bud Linden, of Superior. Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 6, 2pm at the Lake Park Alliance Church, Shell Lake, with the Rev. John Sahlstrom officiating. Burial will be in the White Pine Cemetery, with military honors by the Siren VFW Post 1256.
