Obituary: Clark County, Wisconsin: Venia HENKEL ************************************************************************ Submitted by Joan Benner, May 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ From the Colby Phonograph, Thursday November 23, 1916, Page 1 Mrs. Charles HENKEL died at her home in the town of Hull Tuesday morning November 21, 1916, of cancer of the stomach, after an illness of about two years. She was 45 years, 9 months and 12 days old at the time of her death. Venia WEISE was born at Appleton Wisconsin February 9, 1871 and lived with her parents until her marriage to Charles HENKEL of Sheboygan on March 26, 1894. In 1902 they came to Colby and made this city their home for four years, her husband being the propreitor of the dray line during that time. When Mr. HENKEL sold the dray line, they moved onto the farm in the town of Hull, this being her home up to the time of her death. She was a woman of strong character, patient in her great suffering, loving and self-sacrificing. She leaves to mourn her death her husband, two sons, Milton and Harvey, and one daughter, Carol. The funeral was held Thursday afternoon from the Immanuel Reformed church, Reverend A. L. Scherry officiating.
