Bunsa, 93, five time mayor of Columbus. died Tuesday evening after a long illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm, Friday at the Jones Funeral Home with the Rev. Earl Remaly officiating Burial will be in Hillside cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Thursday. Survivors are his wife, the former Laura Smith; a son, Thomas S., East Chicago, and a daughter Mary, Mrs. Howard' Kratz, La Jolla, Calif. Mr,. Bunsa had a long, and colorful career. Born at Eagle, Wis., in 1869, he went to schools in Palmyra and Milwaukee. He taught at Merrill and was football coach there. at a time when William Evjue of the Capital Times was a football player. Mr. Bunsa came to Columbus in 1906, buying the Columbus Democrat, a newspaper he later sold so he could attend the University of Wisconsin, where he graduated with a degree in law in 1912. While practicing law in Columbus. the deceased also taught school and was an athletic coach. He was mayor for five two-year terms 1917-1927, and served 11 terms as justice of the peace, from 1939 to the present, missing only one term in 1951.
