Obituary: Columbia County, Wisconsin: Charlie W. LITTLE ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, April 2008 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Little. Died of Scarlet Fever, at Lodi. May 8th, 1874, Charlie W. Little, aged 13 yrs., 7 mos., and 7 days. Charlie was an active intelligent, beloved, Christian boy. About one year since he united with the M. E. Church, and during his painful illness, despite his intense suffering, songs of praise were often on his lips. Shortly before his death, as we stood by his bedside, he sung for us: "I'm going home to die no more," 'twas his last earth-song; he sunk quietly, without a struggle, into that long, blissful sleep, the one the Father gives his beloved. Home is lonely without the brightest, the youngest -- Our Charlie; our hearts are indeed desolate, and we sadly mourn the loss of one around whom clustered and on whom rested, the idolized hopes of the whole family; but we know our loss is his infinite gain, and we are trying to pray, "Not our will Oh Father, but Thine."
