Friday, 29 Nov 1918 ROLLIN ESTES DIES AFTER BRIEF ILLNESS (from Saturday's daily) Rollin Estes, who yesterday was mentioned as having been taken to the local hospital for treatment for pneumonia passed away at half past seven o'clock this morning. He was taken ill after returning Tuesday from a stay of nearly two weeks in Chicago, and at first his condition was not deemed alarming. He lapsed into unconsciousness last evening and did not regain consciusness before he died. Funeral arrangements have not been fully completed, it is thought that it will take place Tuesday afternoon at the Estes farm home. Rev. W. J. McKay, of Madison, probably will officiate, and interment will follow on the family lot in the Wheeler Prairie Cemetery. The deceased was the only surviving son of Captain John M. Estes, who is himself now quite feeble and in poor health. He was born April 19, 1878, on the old Estes homestead east of town. Surviving him besides his aged father, are two sisters, Mrs. J.A. Roberts and Mrs. Roy Coon. (From Tuesday's daily) Funeral services over Rollin Estes, who died of pneumonia last Saturday morning, were conducted at the Estes homestead on Wheeler Prairie this afternoon by Rev. W.J. McKay of Madison, an old friend and G.A.R. comrade of Capt. John M. Estes, father of the deceased. As pall bearers officiated Richard Broom of Walworth, and Will LaFay, Ross Hyland, Earl Townsend, Irving Collins and Roy Turner. Interment followed on the family lot in the Wheeler Prairie cemetery. Among relatives and friends present at the funeral from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. L.D Thompson, of Chicago, Richard Broom, of Walworth, Mrs. J.W. Morgan, of Milwaukee, and O.W. Martin of Lodi.
