M. HIBBARD DIES AT STOUGHTON John M. Hibbard died at his home in Stoughton Friday afternoon after an illness of nearly two weeks. He was editor and publisher of the Daily Courier-Hub. Mr. Hibbard was born in Walworth county, January 19, 1849. In 1864 he came to Stoughton and attended school a year. He spent about five years in Milwaukee, then returned to Stoughton and was assistant postmaster until 1875, when he was appointed postmaster, a position he filled under six presidents. He was city treasurer in 1893-4 and that year he bought the Courier and 1909 he purchased the Daily Hub and consolidated the two papers. Mr. Hibbard was a friend of the people. He had his convictions of right and walked to the line. Surviving are his wife, five children and two sisters. Funeral was held Monday under the Masonic rites.
