Obituary: Dane County, Wisconsin: Walter NUNN ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, April 2008 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Cooksville Our village received a shock last Thursday afternoon when we heard of the terrible accident that had happened at Henry Huffman's. His hired man, Walter Nunn, went out after dinner to do chores, after an hour or so, Claude, the son went out and found Walter lying in the yard. He called to him but could get no answer, so called Mrs. Huffman, who telephoned for help and when Mr. Johnson and Mr. Danks came they found he was dead. They carried him in and sent for Dr. Iverson of Stoughton, but he could do nothing. A coroner from Madison and a jury from Stoughton came and it was found he had been trampled to death by a bull; his ribs were crushed and he was terribly bruised, but his face was mercifully spared. He was a young man of excellent habits and loved wherever he had worked. The funeral was held at Mr. Huffman's Sunday at half past two, Rev. Heritage and the Baptist choir of Stoughton officiated. The singing was sweetly beautiful and there was not a dry eye in the gathering. The flowers were many and testified to the love of his friends. He had no relatives here, but an aged father, mother and sister reside in England, to whom Rev. Heritage will soon write the sad news. Mr. and Mrs. Huffman, Mr. and Mrs. Asperheim and Mr. and Mrs. Hull went as chief mourners, he having worked years for each of them. April 6, 1911, Evansville Review, Evansville, Wisconsin
