Obituary: Obituary: Dane County, Wisconsin: La Verne OLSON ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, April 2008 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ LITTLE CHILD CALLED HOME La Verne Otis Olson, the little son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Olson, of Oregon, passed away Wednesday evening, January 5, 1916, after an illness of nine weeks' duration. After trying a number of different doctors from surrounding towns, they decided to take him to a sister of Mrs. Olson, Mrs. John Yarwood, near Evansville, where he could be cared for by Dr. Cook. All was done that medical aid and loving hands could do. La Verne was born March 17, 1913 and died at the age of 2 years, 9 months, 2 weeks and 5 days. He was always cheerful and happy and had arrived at the age where he will be greatly missed in his home. Even through his long illness he was patient and contented. He leaves to mourn his loss, a father, mother, and little sister, Evelyn, besides a number of relatives and friends. His mother is just recovering from pneumonia and unable to go home. The funeral services were held Saturday at 2 o'clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Yarwood, where he died. He was laid at rest in the Mount Hope cemetery at Brooklyn. Rev. Hegge, of Stoughton, officiated. The pall-bearers were Jarel Olson, of Stoughton; Archie Yarwood, Lester Yarwood and Frank Sands, all of Evansville. The flower girls were Hazel Sands, of Evansville, and Ellen Olson, of Stoughton. GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN We'll miss him from our fireside His chair is empty too But our heavenly father knoweth best, And he hath willed it so We leave him in his last long sleep He's where the Angels roam; The Golden Gates have opened wide, To welcome La Verne home. His spirit it will guide us; Ever toward the Golden Shore, Till we shall cross the river To dwell forevermore. January 13, 1916, Evansville Review, Evansville, Wisconsin
