Obituary: Dane County, Wisconsin: Clara PEDERSON ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, April 2008 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Clara, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Pederson was accidentally killed on Dec. 26, 1905, while coasting near her home in the town of Rutland. Deceased was about eight years, three months, lacking a day, and at the time of the accident was in the company of several other children who were gathered at the Pederson home to spend the day. Clara was one of those amiable children who ever wore a smile for everyone and in her sphere will be greatly missed. In her attendance at both the public and the Sunday Schools she was punctual and her work was efficient. It is comforting to remember that "Nearer My God to Thee" was her favorite hymn and we have reason to believe that this young life, tender in years, enjoyed the meaning of this hymn to a greater degree than many who are more matured. A most fitting funeral ceremony by Rev. N. Hansen was held at the parental home and also in the Danish church. The body was tenderly borne to its final resting place by six young ladies dressed in white. "An angel stood and met my gaze. Thro the low doorway of my tent. The tent is struck, the vision stays: I only know she came and went." A father, mother, five brothers, and two sisters, an aged grandfather and grandmother and a host of frineds are left to mourn this untimely death. January 9, 1906, The Tribune, Evansville, Wisconsin
