Runey of Rutland on Sept. 29, 1895, of diphtheria, aged 13 years. About six weeks ago little Gerret Runey, aged 10 years, died of that same dreaded disease. Stanley, an only son is left to mourn with his parents the loss of their dear ones. Close the curtains gently, softly, Shut the golden sunlight out, Bid the children neath the window, Hush their laugh and merry shout. Push aside the snowy cover, Over which dim shadows creep; Then draw near and gaze in silence On our darlings gone to sleep. See the soft light locks are lying Softly on their brow of white While the soft light silken lashes; Close around those orbs of light; And through lips but slightly parted, See the tiny pearl gems peep; While sweet voices seem to whisper, Madge and Gerret's gone to sleep. Gone, but not to briefly slumber, As when here they closed their eyes, While thy heart kept time within thee; To thy soothing lullabys Now no clay holds back their spirits Flying through the upper deep, Only to life's cares and sorrows, Has they loved ones gone to sleep Mrs. A.
