Sumner Sholts Word was received here of the death of Mr. Sholts in Colorado. He was well known to many people living in and near Evansville. Charles Sumner Sholts was born Nov. 15, 1856 in the town of Oregon, Dane County. Here he lived as a boy and young man. In 1877 he was married to Miss Emma Davis and with her settled on a farm near Rutland. He and his family were there regular attendants at the United Brethern churc. Six years ago the family moved to Palisade, Colo., for Mr. Sholts' health, he having been a sufferer from asthma from boyhood. At first the change was beneficial and Mr. Sholts was able to do considerable work on his fruit ranch. But later he became worse, gradually failing until the end came Nov. 16. Mrs. Sholts returned to Wisconsin with the body to the home of their daughter, Mrs. F. M. South near this city. After prayer at the home Sunday noon, a drive was made to the church at Rutland, where the service was conducted by Mr. D. Quincy Grabill. All of the pall bearers were cousins of the deceased. The burial was in the Rutland cemetery. Besides the wife and two daughters, Mrs. F. M. South of this place and Miss Lucile South of Palisade, Colo., he leaves one brother, W. A. Sholts of Oregon and a sister, Mrs. H. E. Munger of Janesville. Card of Thanks We desire to express our gratitude to the friends who so kindly assisted us during our recent bereavement and sorrow by their sympathetic help and the sending of flowers. Mrs. Chas. S.
