DIED.--John D. Spear died of dropsy at his home in Rutland, Wis., January
24th, 1888. Mr. Spear was born in Caldwell, N. J., in 1803 and would have
been 85 years old in February. Mr. Spears moved from Michigan to Wisconsin
in 1853, and settled on a farm in Rutland where he lived until his death.
He leaves quite a large family of grown up sons and daughter most of whom
have farms and families of their own. Mrs. Daniel Whaley of Evansville,
being one of the girls. He was a consistent member of the Baptist church
and was buried from the Baptist church at Union last Friday. Rev. Mr.
Wheeler officiating.
