Obit is from the Edgerton Reporter, Edgerton, Rock Co., Wi. Thur. 13 Apr 1978: MRS. MELVIN CALDER Mrs. Melvin Calder, 85, Rt. 3, Edgerton, died Sunday, Apr. 9, at the home of her son in Stoughton. She was born Feb. 8, 1893 in the Town of Janesville, Rock Co., WI. She was the former Hilma Murkve, daughter of Peter Murkve and Martha Gilson. She was a member of the Albion Primitive Methodist Church, Church Ladies Aid, Royal Neighbors, Lotus Club and a former Sunday school teacher for 40 years. She was married to Melvin Calder on Dec. 22, 1917 at the Albion Prairie Primitive Methodist Church. He died June 25, 1973. Survivors are on son, Harold, Stoughton; seven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Nording, Tuscon, AZ, and MRs. Gertrude Moll, Madison. Services were held Wed. Apr. 12, 1978 at the Albion Priaire Primitive Methodist Church, Rev. Richard Lewis officiating. Burial was in Albion Prairie Cemetery. Casket bearers were Sterling Marsden, Leland Marsden, Oren Hammes, Leroy Lein, Sidney Stolen and Henry Gilson. Music services were by Mrs. Louis Marsden, Organist. The song service was by the church choir. Arrangements were handled by Bruni Funeral Home. CALDER, J. Melvin 09 Apr 1891- 25 Jun 1973 Son of James and Amelia (EHLENFELDT) CALDER. MELVIN CALDER Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 27, for Melvin Calder, 82, who died on June 25, 1973, in University Hospitals, Madison. Mr. Calder had been hospitalized since April 25 when his pickup truck and a car collided on Hillside Road north of Albion. A lifetime area resident and a retired farmer, Mr. Calder was born on April 9, 1891, on the family's homestead farm in Albion Township. He was the son of James and Amelia Ehlenfeldt Calder. He married Hilma Murkve on Dec. 22, 1917, in Albion Prairie Primitive Methodist Church. He was a member and former trustee of that church. Survivors include his wife, one son, Harold, of Stoughton; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and one brother, Leon Calder of Deerfield. Rev. Richard Lewis conducted the services in Albion Prairie Primitive Methodist Church, where the music service was by Mrs. Louis Marsden, organist, and Mrs. Charles Millard, soloist. Pallbearers were Ronald Grady, Eugene Coleman, Francis Vivian, Stephen Grady, Duane Kittleson, and Eugene Halverson. Burial was in the Albion Prairie Cemetery. Bruni Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
