HALVERSON, Robert Giles 07 Dec 1928- 22 Feb 2004 Obit is from the Wisconsin State Journal 26 Feb 2004: Halverson, Robert Giles EDGERTON - Robert Giles Halverson, age 75, died on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004, after a long and courageous battle with melanoma cancer. He was born on Dec. 7, 1928, in Edgerton, the son of Giles O. Halverson and Dorothy E. Ciebell Halverson. Robert married Ardyth E. Christianson on Oct. 22, 1955, in Dubuque, Iowa. He served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. He spent a year and a half in the 351th Headquarters Company in Trieste, Italy. He was honorably discharged as a corporal in May 1953. He worked at G.M.A.D. for 30 years and retired April 1, 1983. He was a member of Local 95. Bob took great pride in his yard and worked diligently to keep it looking beautiful. He belonged to both the Albion and Koshkonong snowmobile clubs, and helped out whenever needed to make trails. He was an avid snowmobiler, big fan of NASCAR races, both a Dale Earnhardt and Matt Kenseth supporter and a Green Bay Packers backer. He loved to feed and watch his birds and he loved to hunt and fish. His whole life was devoted to his family and nature. He is survived by his wife, Ardyth; son, Rick (Peggy) Halverson of Stoughton; two daughters, Lori (John) Ainsworth and Ronda (Donald) Dorn, both of Edgerton; seven grandchildren, Joshua and Kory Ainsworth and Ajay and Megan Dorn of Edgerton, Craig Waldschmidt of Verona, and Jessica (Adam) Burdsall of Sun Prairie, and A.F.S. granddaughter, Camila Dias of Brazil; and two great-grandsons, Carlos and Tony Waldschmidt of Verona. He also is survived by two brothers, George Richard (Shirley)_ Halverson of Concord, N.C., and Lee Raymond (Pat) Halverson of Cottage Grove; and three aunts, Lyla Halverson of Madison, Eleanore Kenseth of Cambridge, and Texas, and Elaine Ciebell of Edgerton. Robert is also survived by brothers-in-law, Dale (Janet) Christianson and Terry (Linda) Christianson, all of Janesville; sister-in-law, Carla Jackson and (Frank) of Fort Atkinson; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. His parents, Giles and Dorothy Ciebell Halverson preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at CENTRAL LUTHERAN CHURCH at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 27, 2004. The Rev. James Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the Albion Prairie Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be held at ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOME, Edgerton, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004. Memorials can be made to Hospice or Central Lutheran Church.
