Married Laura P. DICKINSON on 29 Sep 1898 Obit is from the Edgerton Reporter, Edgerton, Rock Co., Wi., Thur. 02 Mar 1967: SERVICES HELD FOR DR. JULIUS HOLTON Dr. Julius L. Holton, 104 Albion St., died Thursday morning, Feb. 23, 1967, in his home after a long illness. Dr. Holton was a dentist in Edgerton for more than 50 years before his retirement in 1953. He was the oldest living alumnus of Albion Academy and the only survivor of the original Albion Alumni association. An 1892 graduate of the Academy, he was one of several students honored at the July 26, 1964 reunion of its alumni and the annual meeting of the Albion Academy Historical Society. Dr. Holton also attended the University of Wisconsin and graduated from the Chicago Dental College. Dr. Holton served on the City Council as an Alderman from the First Ward for several terms. He was a director of the First National Bank for about 25 years, from the time it was organized until the early 30's and was one of the original founders of the Edgerton Country Club when it was first established in the early 1920's/ Dr. Holton was a life member of the Edgerton Methodist Church, a member for more than 50 years of the Masonic Fulton Lodge 69, F. & A.M.; a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a 50 year member of the Knights of Pythias. He was a former member of Rotary Club and a charter member of Senior Citizens. He was born June 22, 1872, near Utica in Dane County, and was one of seven children of Levi and Sonova Holton. He lived in this area all of his life. On Sept. 29, 1898, Dr. Holton married Laura Dickinson; she died in 1947. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. John H. McEvers; three granchildren, Richard McEvers, Kenilworth, Ill., and Mrs. John Sheehan, Louisville, Ky.; eight great grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Emma Gullickson, Stoughton. Services were held Monday in the Methodist church with the Rev. Lyman G. Farrar officiating. A song service was given by Stephen Saunders, soloist, organist. Masonic services were held Sunday evening in the Ellingson Funeral Home. Burial was in the Albion Prairie Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were C.S. Midtbon, R.E. Ladd, Dr. F.C. Meyers, Willard Larson, Stanley Slagg and Harold Heller. HOLTON, Laura P. 07 Feb 1874- 21 Aug 1947 Dau of William and Eliza (GOLDTHORPE) DICKINSON. Married Julius L. Holton, 73, died in her home at 104 Albion street Thursday following a long illness. Laura Dickinson was born on a farm homestead at Albion Prairie Feb. 7, 1874, the daughter of William and Eliza Dickinson. As a girl, she attended Albion academy and was graduated with the class of 1892. She served as an officer inthe alumni association of her school for many years. She was married to Dr. Julius L. Holton Sept. 29, 1898, and the couple lived in Edgerton, where she was an active member in various women's organizations of the Methodist Church and of civic groups, among them the Federation of Women's Clubs, the Philomathean club, and the women's auxilliary of the Edgerton Country club. She served as president in each club at some time. For many years she was a member of the local chapter of Eastern Star and was a worthy matron. Survivors are her husband, a well known Edgerton dentist for 49 years; one daughter,Mrs. John H. McEvers, Kansas City, Mo., and four grandchildren, John H. , Robert, Richard and Jean McEvers. Two brothers, Weetman and George Dickinson, preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Methodist church, the Rev. Reuben Bailey, Milwaukee, officiating, with the Rev. Douglas Anderson assisting. Friends may call at the church after noon Sunday. Burial will be in Albion Prairie cemetery.
