ARTHUR MARSDEN Dr. Arthur Marsden, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Marsden, was born on Albion Prairie, May 15, 1869, passed to the great beyound August 31, 1916, at the age of 47 years, 3 months and 16 days. Dr. Marsden spent his youth on his father's farm. In 1886 he came to Edgerton with the family. He graduated from high school in 1891. Then choosing the medical profession, he spent three years at Rush Medical College, after which he spent two years in hospital work in St. Louis and in the study of pharmacy. He finished his course in 1896 and soon after located in Rio. In 1902 he was married to Birdie Pease. Both Mr. and Mrs. Marsden were very active in the social life of the community and made many friends. The Dr. was a great reader. He sang for years in a male quartet. Dr. Marsden was a very successful physician and lost few cases. He was tireless in his devotion to his patients, and never spared himself either night or day. For several years he had been troubled by spells of dizziness. These were gradually becoming more frequent, more serious, until the end came suddenly. He leaves to mourn him, his devoted wife, his loving mother, Mrs. Henry Marsden, his sister, Mrs. J.W. Conn, his brother Marvin, and a brother Charles, who lives in Mitchell, South Dakota, besides a large circle of friends and relatives. Dr. Marsden was a member of the Masonic order, the Modern Woodsmen, the Equitable Fraternal Union and the Royal Neighbors. Funeral services were held from his home in Rio Saturday morning, after which the remains were brought to Edgerton for interment. The esteem in which Dr. Marsden was held in Rio was testified to by the fact that twenty-five of his friends accompanied the funeral party to Portage, and by the fact that twenty people from Rio made the 55 mile journey to Edgerton to attend the funeral services which were held from his mother's home at 2 o'clock on Sunday afternoon. Interment was made in the Albion Prairie cemetery. THe sympathy of the community goes out to the bereaved relatives.
