A son of Joseph and Eliza Cooper Marsden, pioneers of Albion Prairie, he was born April 1, 1858, on the Marsden homestead near Busseyville. As a young man he attended Albion Academy and worked in the Grange store in Edgerton. He was a member of the Albion Prairie Primitive Methodist church and later the Methodist Episcopal and Methodist church of Edgerton. Mr. Marsden was one of the founders of the Albion Cooperative creamery. His many kindnesses endeared him to his neighbors and friends, whom he always met with a friendly smile. He seldom missed calling with a bouquet of flowers on friends who were ill. On New Year's eve, Dec. 31, 1888, he married Eva Collins of Edgerton, who had come there from Missouri. They settled on a farm he purchased on Albion Prairie and which was their home for 30 years. Since purchasing the home in the village in 1918, Mr. and Mrs. Marsden had conducted a floral shop. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Dec. 31, 1938. Survivors are his wife; three sons, Lawrence W., a farmer just west of the village; Roy H., Madison, and Kenneth G. Marsden, vice president of the Ziegler Finance corporation of West Bend, Wis.; four brothers, Thomas, Leonard, Walter and Henry Marsden, all of Albion Prairie; one sister, Mrs. E. G.
