MARSDEN, Sterling Cooper 28 Jul 1918- 23 Apr 2005 Son of Walter and Inger (EVERSON) MARSDEN Married Lila Lucille HIGBEE on 03 Nov 1940 Marsden, Sterling C. EDGERTON - Sterling Marsden, age 86, of Edgerton, died on Saturday, April 23, 2005, at Memorial Community Hospital, Edgerton. He was born on July 26, 1918, in Jefferson County, the son of Walter and Inger (Solberg) Marsden. He graduated from Edgerton High School and the University of Wisconsin Farm Short Course. Sterling farmed with his brother, Leland, for more than 40 years. Sterling married Lila Higbee on Nov. 3, 1940. His favorite activities included playing dart ball in the church league, playing cards, dancing, gardening and fishing. Sterling was a lifelong member of the Albion Prairie Primitive Methodist Church. He served on the board of trustees for the church and was active in Friendly Builders. Sterling was secretary for the Albion Prairie Cemetery Association and was a board member of the Busseyville School. He was known for actively promoting family, farm and community endeavors. He is survived by a daughter, Joy (Graydon Watts) Risse of Edina, Minn.; six sons, Jerry Marsden of Wales, Dale (JoAnn Sornson) Marsden of McFarland, Daniel (Margie) Marsden of Janesville, Keith (Cindy) Marsden of Fort Atkinson, Kent (Rhonda) Marsden of Milton, and Tim (Mary McCarthy) Marsden of Edgerton; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lowell of Milton. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Muriel, Ellen, and Genevieve; a brother-in-law, Ruffin Staffrude; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years; his parents; four brothers, Louis, Ralph, Henry and Leland; and a sister, Doris Staffrude. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at the WHITCOMB-LYNCH ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOME, 1004 S. Main St., Edgerton, with Pastor Richard Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the Albion Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday, April 26, 2005, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
