(LUND) PIERCE. Married Barbara May LYNTS on 07 Sep 1947 in Edgerton Congregational United Church of Christ, Edgerton, Rock Co., Wi. Pierce, Richard Alan EDGERTON -Richard Alan Pierce, age 80, of Edgerton, passed away on Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, at the Edgerton Memorial Community Hospital Long Term Care. He was born on Aug. 27, 1923, in Edgerton, the son of the late Daniel and Melvina (Lund) Pierce. Richard was united in marriage on Sept. 7, 1947, to Barbara Lynts at the Edgerton Congregational United Church of Christ, were he was a member. Richard graduated from Edgerton High School in 1940. After graduation he enrolled at the UW-Madison and he enlisted in the United States Army were he worked at the Pentagon during World War II. After his stint in the Army he re-enrolled at the UW-Madison, where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, graduating in 1949 with a B.A. He was employed by Blue Cross/Blue Shield were he was vice president of marketing and a member of the National Association of BC/BS. He sold insurance plans to many major corporations such as the auto industry and Kmart. After his retirement he sold real estate for sometime. He was also a member of the Edgerton Rotary Club and the American Legion. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara of Edgerton; a daughter, Elizabeth (Robert) Thompson of Ridgefield, Conn.; two sons, Richard Alan (Margaret) Pierce II of Arlington, and Gregory (Susan) Pierce of Park Ridge, Ill.; six grandchildren, Sarah (Aaron) Tubbs, Douglas Thompson, Gregory P.L. Pierce Jr., Daniel R. Pierce, Henry Pierce and Timothy L. Pierce; two brothers-in-law, Paul Lynts of Milwaukee, and George (Joan) Lynts of Edgerton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Elizabeth Pierce; and a brother, Daniel Pierce. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, at 2 p.m. at the EDGERTON CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH with the Rev. George Calhoun and Richard Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the Albion Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday Aug. 20, 2004, at the EHLERT-WARD FUNERAL HOME, 315 Lord St., Edgerton, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the services. There will be full military services at the cemetery by the Edgerton Memorial Squad.
